BREAST WELLNESS - RANCHI, INDIA

GLOBAL PARTNERS WORKING TOGETHER SO ACCESS IS POSSIBLE!

Dr.Shenin Sachedina DO,FACOS has collaborated with Yogda Satsang Hospital in Ranchi, India, to assist in helping the hospital with supplies by reupholstering all the beds and buying several new ones. Some of the beds are over 20 years old.

In addition, she is partnering with them to implement the “If you feel something, say something” campaign. Most women in India are stage 3 or stage 4 at their diagnosis of breast cancer. We need to change that through education and access.

Due to the challenges of ultrasound access due to restrictions of its use in India, a breast ultrasound triage initiative, in collaboration with a nearby radiology  center, will be implemented.  Breast point-of-care clinical examination as a triage will be done by a trained clinician when a patient presents with a breast complaint as a means of early detection of suspicious breast lesions. If a suspicious lesion is noted on clinical examination, the patient will be sent for a formal evaluation by the radiologist for a workup immediately. The purpose of this project is to increase access by increasing triage for women with breast complaints and to decrease the time from the identification of the lesion to care. This will result in earlier detection of breast cancer, which in turn will improve survival by prioritizing the women with suspicious lesions to access medical care in underserved communities.

We will be partnering with the Rotary Club of Ranchi  to increase access for these patients to mammography. The patients will be $6 vs the $15 that is the standard mammography cost.

Through Ub3e’s collaboration with Yogda Hospital’s leadership and Rotary Club’s Community commitment, we are expanding screening and structured triage for Ranchi-Global partners working together so access becomes possible. From the United States to Ranchi, India-our message and commitment to breast wellness crosses continents.
